HOW TO INSTALL QUAKE 3 ARENA ON WINDOWS VISTA 64 BIT

Simply copy all the files from the CD onto your hard-disk. Create a folder "Quake III Arena" at the following location, C:\Program Files (x86)\Quake III Arena, then you can create your own shortcut.

To create a shortcut on the desktop, go into your C:\Program Files (x86)\Quake III Arena, find the file named "quake3.exe", RIGHT click on it and scroll down to "Send To", select "Desktop (Create Shortcut)" and s shortcut will be on your desktop.

IF OTHER USERS ON OTHER ACCOUNTS, SETTINGS ARE NOT SAVED

You may find that if you have other users or accounts on the same computer, the video, character name and various other settings do not save even after you clicked the "Accept" button in Quake 3. You need to give permissions to that other account. Here's how you do it. If you have multiple users on your computer than you may have to give that person "RIGHTS" to the Quake 3 folder so that the settings of that user can be saved. Log into the account with Administrator rights. Go to your C:\Program Files (x86)\Quake III Arena from the ADMINISTRATORS account, RIGHT click on the folder. Scroll down to properties, select the USER you want to have rights, click the EDIT tab and put a check mark in the FULL CONTROL box to give that other user FULL rights. That's it.
